Juvéderm® Voluma® is an injectable gel dermal filler that is the first and only filler FDA-approved for patients over the age of 21 to instantly add volume to the cheek area. It gives you a subtle lift, helping to restore a young-looking contour to the face. While primarily used on older patients, younger patients who feel that their cheeks are too flat are also candidates for Voluma.
Voluma is a different formula than Juvéderm®, and it specifically adds volume to the apex, the apple, and the hollow of the cheeks. Made of hyaluronic acid, a hydrating substance that naturally occurs in the body, Voluma requires no allergy testing.
The skill of your injector is vital for a natural-looking result. Your injector must have the training and experience to know the proper dosage and where to place the injections. At Comprehensive Dermatology Center of Pasadena, we have many years of experience with Juvéderm® Voluma and other dermal fillers. We know how these products work in the skin and can recommend whether Juvéderm® Voluma or a combination of fillers will give you the look you want.

What Can Juvéderm® Voluma Do For Me?
- Flattened or sunken cheeks
- Nasolabial folds from the nose to the mouth
- Marionette lines from the mouth to the chin
- Cheek wrinkles
What is a Juvéderm® Voluma Treatment Like?
A small needle is used to inject Juvéderm® Voluma, and the formula includes Lidocaine, which helps to numb the injection areas. We also apply a topical anesthetic to ensure your comfort.
Including the time required for the topical anesthetic to take effect, your appointment for Juvéderm® Voluma injections should last no more than an hour.
How Long Do Juvéderm® Voluma Results Last?
Juvéderm® Voluma is a long-lasting wrinkle filler, but it is not permanent. In many patients, the results last as long as two years.
You can return to work and other normal activities immediately after your Juvéderm® Voluma appointment. However, you can expect some mild side effects for 2-4 weeks. These include minor bruising, swelling, redness, tenderness, itching, and lumps or bumps at the injection sites.
Any discoloration can be covered with makeup, and mild pain can be managed with over-the-counter medications such as Tylenol.
